season

The open season for all rivers and lakes in the Southern Island of New Zealand is from October 1st to April 30th. The full season license, which costs NZ$ 105 (approx. € 50), enables the angler to fish in over 1'000 beautiful rivers, streams and lakes in the South Island. Prime dry fly fishing usually occurs from mid-November to mid-March, although opportunities for dry fly fishing exist all season. The best catch rates are generally achieved early season, prior to Christmas.
